Plants naturally will draw water from the resin water reservoir through the cotton wick. The transparent body of the reservoir shows users clearly when more water is needed. Visually this results in the steel soil compartment hanging from the top appearing like a “floating island”. My final process involved piecing together laser-cut acrylic panels to create an original form that I would then use to create a silicone mould to then cast the resin bodies. The shape of the lense aims to emulate “happy eyes”, with room at the bottom of the lenses for rising smiling cheeks. Inspired by flexible glasses that use a titanium nickel alloy, the frame is modelled like a spring.
